Over Switch |
|
According
to IEC-947-3, changeover switches are switch-disconnectors
with independent manual operation to be used in low voltage
distribution circuits and motor circuits.
They
are capable of making, carrying and breaking currents under
normal circuit conditions which may include operating overload
conditions and also carrying for a specified time, currents
under specified abnormal circuit conditions such as those
of short circuit.
Four
pole changeover switches are required in a three phase four
wire power system for safe and foolproof transfer of power
from normal supply to auxiliary / emergency supply and vice
versa. The on-load changeover switch type FG is compact,
AC-23 rated and conforms to IEC-947-3.

Construction
The
Changeover switch type FG consists of two separate four pole
switches coupled and mechanically interlocked by an innovative
mechanism to provide three distinct positions by single handle
operation - 'I', 'O' and 'II'.
»
In
position 'I', supply 'I' is connected to load and supply 'II'
is OFF.
»
In
postion 'O' both supplies 'I' & 'II' are disconnected
from the load.
»
In
position 'II', supply 'II' is connected to the load and supply
'I' is OFF.
Thus in one of the cases, supply 'I' and supply 'II' are simultaneously
connected.
